Weekend at Bogor Botanical Gardens

Weekend, it is a nice time for almost of us. Since we can do our hobbies, travel or just spend the time in the city by visiting shopping mall.

Visit the Bogor Botanical Gardens is one of the options to spend the weekend in Indonesia. Bogor Botanical Gardens are located around 60 km south of the capital of Jakarta in Bogor, Indonesia. This is situated in the center of Bogor and ad joins the Istana Bogor (Presidential Palace). This garden covers more than 80 hectares and are said to be the inspiration of Sir Stamford Raffles who was governor of Java from 1811-1816.

The extensive grounds of the Istana Bogor were converted into the gardens by the German-born Dutch botanist, Professor casper George Carl Reinwards. The gardens officially opened in 1817 as Lands Plantentuin (Natioanl Botanical Garden) and were used to research and develop plants and seeds from other parts of the Indonesian archipelago for cultivation during the 19th century. This is a tradition that continues today and contributes to the gardens’ reputation as a major center for Botanical Research.

BTW, during your visit at this garden you will find more than 15,000 species of tress and plants located among streams and lotus ponds. There are 400 types of exceptional palms to be found along the extensive lawns and avenues, helping the gardens create a refuge for more than 50 different varieties of birds groups of bats roosting high in the trees.

One important point, please make sure that you visit the information center first and get the layout of garden first so that you can appoint your destination place instead of walking around the garden only. By doing this you will optimize your visit time at Bogor Botanical Garden very well.

For students in Jakarta based, it will be perfect place to visit and could really refresh your mind since normally we face very busy situation in Jakarta everyday. (Hey...don't believe me unless you try to visit it on next weekend!).

Let's Visit Indonesia

Indonesia is secure and very conducive to be visited. Indonesian government has national program "Visit Indonesia Year 2008" there fore they will make sure the level of security in Indonesia to attract more foreign people to visit Indonesia.

Regarding English, English is a foreign language here in Indonesia instead of second language but it does not mean that very difficult to find people to speak English here (in company). Therefore most of people especially in Supervisor level and above in company (national and multinational company) are able to speak English, and even some taxi driver in Jakarta could speak basic English. The foreign students here could conduct their traineeship well, if they interested in studying local language, Bahasa, they can join a local course with English speaking teachers.

If you are interested in holding your traineeship in huge company the option would be in Jakarta; Jakarta is very busy city since this is very business city in Indonesia; traffic jams is a common there. Here the official website of Jakarta: http://www.jakarta.go.id/en/ available in Bahasa, English and German.

The other option is Semarang, Semarang is quite peace city and less traffic but in Semarang also available quite a lot of company that dealing with international business. Please visit the following link to get to know more about Semarang: http://www.semarang.nl/index.html the information is available in Bahasa and Dutch. The other reference that might be useful for you too is the following: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Culture_of_Indonesia. So after you completed your resume and your motivation letter; why don't you submit your internship application and eady to have fantastic experience in Indonesia? Hopefully could see you here in Indonesia!

Prepare Your best English Resume and Motivation Letter

Start your effort by writing down your detailed information as well as your supporting information clearly. Writing a clear internship objective or assignments proposed is a must so that company will see what actually your internship objective. This is easier for company to provide good assignments for you since you have stated your working are clearly.

Make sure that you put all of your professional skill on your Resume; beside this your professional experience is useful too. But you should remember if you would like to apply for engineering assignments internship; your previous professional experience in engineering fields would be very helpful and valuable in front of employer's (traineeship providing company) point a view. If you would like to put your recent photo, please make sure that you are wearing suit or business cloth so that you will appear more professional; however the reality of your performance is would be more important but at least by submitting good and representative recent photo, company will think twice to remove your application into the trash.

On the other side, I saw some students would like apply engineering assignments but they put sales or food supplier as their professional experience support; unfortunately it does not help much. My point is you should put the relevant previous professional experience on your resume.

Another important point is language skill; if you would like to hold internship abroad, Fluent in English is a must beside your mother tongue; however if you are able in multiple language that would be very perfect selling point.

Before I end this content, please do not forget to monitor your email and make sure your mobile phone is ON in your hand so you would be easy to be reached by your company. Please pick up their incoming call with your best greeting! This is the minimal requirement for best resume and motivation letter actually; so at least the information mentioned above should be stated on your resume and motivation letter. Thank you!
